Manexenea.

2nd September

Set off from Cenac in cooler conditions. Overcast, but dry & improving. We made our way out to Fumel through lovely countryside and on some really quiet roads. This is the part of France that I particularly like, although passing through the city of Agen wasn't the best of experiences. For some reason it was very busy and very frustrating.

Bloody wide loads!

The run from Agen, through Condom to Aire de L'Adour was excellent. No traffic & quiet, well surfaced roads kept the Super Ten singing along. It was warming up nicely too, to provide the best riding of the trip so far.

We passed the race track at Nogaro and moved on past Orthez, eventually electing to stop for a couple of beers in the nice little town of Salies de Bearn.

Another hour saw us through St Jean Pied de Port and firmly into the Basque region. The air quality noticeably improved as we moved into the foothills of the Pyrennes and onto our overnight stop at the Hotel Manexenea near to St Etienne de Biagorry. What a wonderful find! A proper beautiful, rural location and a great room.

A quick shower and I was out for a walk and a bit of bird watching (wonderful Nuthatch) for half an hour, while Shirl pampered.

Rounded the evening off with a very nice meal, sampling the regional cuisine:

Boudin Maison
